About Harmon Avenue

Harmon Avenue was added in 1927 along with Rosedale Street connecting it with Rosedale Circle. Originally, Harmon Avenue was a straight boulevard divided by a grassy median, but when the city paved the street in the late 1950s, the median was removed. At the same time, the name of Rosedale Street was changed to Hobart Street.

Harmon Avenue was platted in July 1927 and gets its name from the infamous Harmon Sisters, Janie and Chrissie who lived in a little cabin several hundred feet beyond the end of this street in what is now Woodberry Forest.  The approximate location of their cabin was located at 2575 Aaron Ln just in the cul-de-sac.

You can learn more about the Harmon sisters here.

At one time Harmon Av was a boulevard style street with a center grassy median. In the 1950's when it was paved, the median was removed and that portion was paved, giving the residents on each side some additional front lawn space where the old road was located.
